PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Well, we made it to July and its dam hot. Welcome to Utah no spring or fall just hot and cold and give that five minutes and that will change too. Last meeting we had the Dave McCracken video on gold prospecting. The attendance at that meeting was 42 with net donations of $674. half of what the previous meeting was. Raven has picked up the newsletter/membership position again for a time, a big thanks to her. A motion will be brought up at the meeting to combine the newsletter/membership to one single position. If voted upon will have to possible rename that position to something else. Lets give this some thought for the next meeting and make some good suggestions. We still need the claims position filled also in the club, please inform me at the next meeting if the interest is there. With this mailing all members will receive one of the new decals for the car or where ever you need to put it, ha ha, like on your dredge. Display it with pride!!!! The first of July starts the dredging season up at Mary Ellen Gulch, in American Fork Canyon. Please make sure you have you dredge permit in place in case you are asked to show it. The clubs next outing will be in on August 20-22nd, up on our Silver City Claims, more information as time draws nearer. The speakers for the month of July will be the Mojave Underground Club. This will be an excellent presentation, so come early for the best seating, and enjoy. HERE'S THE TIME TO REALLY PAY ATTENTION HERE. AS A LOT OF MEMBERS ALREADY KNOW THAT IN THE SALT LAKE VALLEY THERE HAS BEEN A CHAPTER OF THE GPAA THAT HAS BEEN FORMED. FOUR OFFICERS AND MY SELF ATTENDED THE SECOND MEETING AND THERE WERE ABOUT 45 IN ATTENDANCE. SEEN SOME OLD TIME FACES THERE AND WERE VERY HAPPY TO SEE US AGAIN. THE PERSON IN CHARGE OR THE STATE REP FOR THE GPAA IS MIKE QUINN AND THEIR IS A PRESIDENT OF THE CHAPTER ALSO. THE STATE DIRECTOR AND THE PRES. HAD SAT DOWN FOR A TIME AND DISCUSSED ABOUT THE TWO CLUBS MERGING AS ONE LARGE CLUB. THE SOUNDED PRETTY ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THE IDEA WILL MEET WITH THEM IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE TO WORK ON THE FINER DETAILS. AS MEMBERS IN OUR CLUB I WILL NEED SOME SERIOUS FEEDBACK ON THE SITUATION. I HAVE CONTACTED THE GPAA CHAPTER CHAIRMAN IN CALIF. AND IT WOULD BE WITHIN THE GUIDE LINES OF THE GPAA TO POSSIBLE DO THIS MERGE. AGAIN, IT WOULD STILL BE OUR CLUB WITH THE GPAA CHAPTER APPLIED TO IT. EASIER FOR ALL THE PAPER WORK THAT NEED TO BE DONE ON A MONTHLY VENTURE. Well thats about it for now, stay cool, get some gold and above all use common sense out there and be safe.
